He'll discuss how he tries to keep it all together and shares the lessons he’s learned about writing in all these mediums with other writers and readers.

Jon Talton is the author of nine novels, including the award-winning David Mapstone Mysteries and THE PAIN NURSE, the first of the Cincinnati Casebooks series. His new book is the thriller, DEADLINE MAN. It received a starred review in Booklist, which called it “a knockout novel.”

Jon has spent more than 25 years as a working journalist, including as a columnist for the Arizona Republic. Now he is economics columnist for the Seattle Times, and he continues to write about Arizona issues and history on his blog, roguecolumnist.com. Jon is also a fourth-generation Arizonan.

Our 5th Annual Bob Dylan Birthday Party!

Venue: Old Town Center for the Arts in Old Town Cottonwood

Saturday, May 22, 7 pm: Joe Neri and the Mystery Tramps will perform a wide selection of Dylan songs, some solo and acoustic and others with the full backing of Joe’s electric blues band, Blues Dawg. The Mystery Tramps, in addition to Joe, include, Alexander, Scott Beck, Gary Every, Vyktoria Pratt Keating, Chris Seymour and Debra Windsong, with backing by Keys Marsh, Hutch Hutchinson and Ed Tortorello. Every show has been different, with hundreds of Dylan songs to choose from, and every show is full of surprises. This year’s show will feature the new acoustic trio of William Eaton, Dan Engler and Don Whitcher, as well as a great rendition of “Subterranean Homesick Blues” by poet Gary Every.

“The show has grown enormously,” says Joe Neri, the show’s producer and co-owner of The Well Red Coyote bookstore, “starting out in 2006 as a small acoustic show in our bookstore and evolving into a major stage show at the Old Town Center. And this year’s event will be biggest and best yet!”

“And, we always sing “Happy Birthday” to Bob Dylan, and then break for birthday cake,” says Neri.

One very popular part of the show for the past four years, and will definitely be included in this fifth annual show, is an audience participation singing of “Desolation Row,” with Neri singing the first two and the last verses of this 10-verse Dylan epic and individual members of the audience coming on stage to sing the middle verses.

The Bob Dylan Birthday Party & Concert begins at 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 22.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door available at The Well Red Coyote and the Old Town Center for the Arts.
